Research Experience and Milestones
Currently working as "Programme Officer" at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune (8th October till date). The work involves development and up gradation of an Environmental Information System (ENVIS) which is a decentralized system with a network of distributed subject oriented centers ensuring integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, collation, storage, retrieval, and dissemination to all concerned. Another work involves development of a Sustainable Development Network Programme, which takes care of all air pollution related aspects in India.
Worked as Research Associate in IIT, Kanpur for duration of 3 months (April - July 2007) on Pulsed Laser Deposition technique. Targets of LaMnO3, Sm0.55Sr0.45MnO3, and LaSrAlO4 were prepared by solid state reaction and were further used for deposition of thin films. LaMnO3 films were grown on LAO (001) substrates by PLD. Further study regarding the effect of oxygen content on the structural and electrical properties of LaMnO3 films was carried out.
Worked in Surface Physics Group, at Department of Physics, University of Pune during Ph.D. The work involved synthesis and studying the properties of various nano and micron sized materials which includes III-V semiconductor materials viz. InSb, II-VI semiconductor materials as ZnS, CdS, CdSe and ZnSe; IV-VI semconductor material viz. SnO2 doped with transition metal elements, self aligned SnO2 microrods, core-shell material as CdSe @ SiO2, metal nanoparticles and some work on Photonic bandgap materials such as polystyrene is also carried out. Another work involved making useful applications of these materials. Self aligned tin oxide microrods are found to be very good field emitters and can also be used efficiently in H2 gas sensing application, whereas the other semiconductor material viz. CdSe is found to be useful in biological labeling.
Work on Porous materials such as "Porous Silicon" for luminescence study is carried out; also an experiment on this was set-up for M.Sc. students.
