weather and season

How do we collect weather information?

We can collect weather information by several weather stations those regularly check wind speed, humidity, air pressure rainfall and density of clouds in particular regions. These weather stations are found anywhere in major cities, airports, Government Institutes etc. These measurements can be collected with the help of Radars, Satellite Air balloons and some of other instruments. Then this information is used for weather forecast through Television, Radio, Websites and newspapers.

Why is air pressure important to weather forecasters and how it is measured?

The change in Air pressure, bringing different types of weather. On the basis of the changes on Air pressure we predict weather  forecasts in advance as which region will have heavy rain, how much will it rain in coming season, how cold would be winters and how hot will be the summer. Which can be analyzed by recording air pressure, appearance of and density of clouds etc Air pressure is measured with a Barometer in units called millibar.

Aneroid barometers contain hollow capsules with no air inside. As the pressure of the air alters, the     capsules changes shape and slowly moves the pointer on the dial to show whether the air pressure rising or falling.

   How does season changes?

We know that the earth is tilted on its axis and moves around on its axis, so at each instant different parts are tilted  towards the sun for a few months at a time. and the countries on that part leaning towards the sun has summer, while the countries on another part leaning away has winter and spring and autumn in between those parts. That’s why we have four seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter - are caused by the tilt of earth’s axis.

  What are Floods and   Drought?

Floods: Mainly heavy rain fall causes the floods either due to Thunderstorms or low pressure areas where it brings rain several times in a week until the river overflows their banks, and some time melting snow also accuses floods.

Drought: Opposite to Flood the lack of ran over a long period that causes shortage of water. The people don’t get water for drinking, meeting their daily requirements and unable to grow crops Feed animals.

   What is humidity?

The Humidity is the amount of moisture contained in the air. More the humidity of air more wet will be the weather. Humidity is measured by Hygrometer.
